To me this painting is about feeling caught between who you really are and the expectations around
you. the black figure looks lost under all the bright gold stars, like they’re meant to represent
something positive, but they also cover up the important parts of the figure. it’s messy and raw on
purpose, kind of like how figuring yourself out can feel confusing when everyone else is trying to
define you.
